travel notes.

mezzatorre. ischia.
the swimmer. 2025

after a wedding in florence, three weeks on the road through italy. the last stop before the house in noto was ischia, and a lunch at mezzatorre, the hotel the island is known for. halfway through, i thought, i'm never going to see this again, not like today. so i got up and photographed it. leaving, i saw him under the surface, and i knew exactly the image i wanted.

florence. italy.
carousel. 2025

my dad had just given me the camera and we were basically messing around with the settings. we both saw this one and immediately thought it was cool. it ended up becoming one of the most unique photos i've taken.

man and dog. 2025

this was one of the first street photographs i ever took. i remember debating whether i should ask him first, and then i just took the picture. i never really looked back after that.

st. peter's pool. malta.
everyone in. 2025

we were in sicily with no plans for where to go next. three days before, we decided on malta and took the two-hour ferry over. by chance, st. peter's pool was the first place we went. i felt like a kid again, jumping, swimming, diving, a local inside the organized chaos. of everything i have, this is the photograph i would most like to jump back into.

rolling dunes. gozo.
life tube. 2025

the same walk as red car, along the rolling dunes and salt pans by the water. inland, out of the corner of my eye, a red life tube with no water anywhere near it. something made for the sea, surrounded by what looked like sand. the whole scene felt surreal.

red car. 2025

the same walk as life tube. after wied il-għasri there was no car to take us anywhere, so we walked. it became one of the best walks of my life, past salt pans where the coast turns half natural, half made. out of the corner of my eye, divers unloading gear from a red van. what felt surreal to me was another day at the office for them. one tone of limestone, and a pop of red.

rio de janeiro. brazil.
christ in fog. 2025

it rained almost the entire trip, so this wasn't the rio we thought we were coming to see. i'm glad now. i might never see christ like this again.

praia da baleia. são sebastião.
the biker. 2026

it was one of those weekends at my cousin's beach house where everything felt like clockwork. then this guy rode by and i remember thinking, if i were him, i'd want this picture.

perigo. 2025

i wasn't planning to shoot that day. the sky suddenly went purple, i grabbed my camera, and this red sign looked like it belonged to the whole scene.

low tide. 2025

i was walking the beach with my family and friends, but everyone kept moving and i stayed behind. i was just watching the water, the sand and the foam washing up, and this pattern caught me.

ipanema. rio de janeiro.
rio runner. 2025

my first time in rio. i was there with my family, and they were worried my camera would get stolen. i went to the beach anyway. it was too breathtaking not to capture. this is the day i fell in love with rio.

ipanema at dusk. 2025

this was exactly the rio i had imagined before i ever went. i was there with the family who made brazil feel like home to me, and i still feel like i didn't get to stay in that moment long enough.

ipanema promenade. 2025

this was the first moment i fell in love with rio. i was walking with my cousins and saw this guy working with the palms, mist, beach and mountains behind him. it felt like i'd walked into a movie.

la muralla roja. calpe.
between walls. 2025

i found this place online while i was sitting in a hotel in malta. we flew to valencia, drove to calpe and rented an apartment just so we could get inside.

mürren. switzerland.
foggy cows. 2025

i lost both of my contacts in the rain, couldn't see properly and ended up surrounded by cows in the fog. i wasn't even sure if cows were dangerous, so i just stood there and waited.

after the fog. 2025

not long before this i had lost both contacts in the rain and was surrounded by cows. then the fog cleared and switzerland suddenly looked exactly like the postcard.

mount rigi. switzerland.
first bells. 2025

i heard the bells before i could see anything. then the fog opened up and there was this whole herd of cows on the hillside.

playa roja. paracas.
playa roja. 2025

this was one of the first moments in peru when all of us thought, okay, this trip was worth it. we could pull over almost anywhere in the reserve and just run out into the desert.

paracas. peru.
pink lagoon. 2025

we found this place on google while we were driving around the reserve. one of my friends insisted that we stop wandering and go straight there. after that, we basically spent the day chasing whatever looked coolest.

dune lines. 2025

this trip almost didn't happen. we basically cancelled it on a facetime call at five in the morning. the next day my friend called and said, did you buy your ticket to peru?

fishing bay. 2025

by then paracas was starting to feel repetitive, but we kept driving anyway and found this little fishing port. it was one of the first moments i felt like we were actually traveling instead of just sightseeing.

main beach. east hampton.
two birds two chairs. 2026

i had been putting off shooting for the fairs. with twenty minutes before a call, i went to main beach, a place i hadn't been in years. walking back to the car, i saw a couple behind a lifeguard chair and kept trying to line two birds up with them. i got it. it feels like an old movie poster to me, a little mysterious, a little romantic.

napeague. amagansett.
slow down you're here. 2026

by the cannery in napeague, i was still asking myself what to shoot, what people would want and what was actually calling me. what stopped me was the signs, the human marks left inside nature. a yellow sign against an old rusted building, telling me to slow down.

ditch plains. montauk.
before summer. 2026

a day in montauk to see a friend. i was about to drive home, but i knew i wouldn't be back much that summer, so i kept going, to ditch plains, which i hadn't seen in years. it was serene and quiet, and for a moment it was mine, just before the hamptons summer began.

atlantic beach. amagansett.
emergency bird. 2026

getting ready for a summer of art fairs, i spent days outside with my dad looking for local works. we almost skipped the classic spots because they felt expected. at atlantic beach, what drew me in was the birds. they were everywhere, on the huts, on the signs. i hadn't known i was looking for them until i was there.

wied il-għasri. gozo.
narrow opening. 2025

my friend stopped for coffee and i kept walking. i followed a couple toward the water and found this view that he never even saw.
